If you’re trying to secure the bag, build a brand, or just look like hot cake for your crush, packaging plays a key role in getting noticed and respected.
Let’s be real: you can’t just exist, you need to package yourself. Because if your appearance is screaming “I just woke up in traffic”, you’re definitely not getting the gig.
Think of it as branding, but the product is you! Packaging is very important, it’s not about being fake, it’s about being intentional.
Here are 5 ways to package yourself in order to stand out:
- Work On Your Appearance

Yes, “smelling good is good business”. Combining that with looking good? You’re definitely getting a “Grammy Award”. People see you first before they hear you speak, so paying attention to how you look should top your list.
Before you start screaming “I have the brains!”, make sure your outfit is not telling the story of how you’ve not had light for 2 weeks.
Invest in your signature style, and show up like the bag everybody is chasing! Your appearance says something about you. So, make sure it’s saying the right thing.
- Polish Your Digital Presence

You might not be an influencer, but that doesn’t make you less important. So, be intentional about what people should know about you.
Your online presence is the modern CV. If someone searched your name right now, what would they find? Just make sure Facebook is not making a star from the “My money grows like grass, I don’t need anybody” post you made 10 years ago.
Create content that shows your values, interests, and skills, update your LinkedIn (add a headline that sells your expertise, not just your job title), and let your online self say, “Hire me or date me”.

- Know The Right Way To Communicate

There’s nowhere you can’t talk, best in amebo. In your defense you’ll say “Me I say things the way they are”, but when it comes to holding an intelligent conversation, you suddenly disappear from the group chat.
You could be the smartest person in the room, but if you can’t express yourself clearly and confidently, you won’t be taken seriously.
Packaging includes your words, tone, and ability to hold a conversation with confidence. So, knowing when and how to talk is important. Learn the difference between talking to people and talking at them, and understand how to market yourself (at least something better than gossiping).
- Be Known For Something

This is not about how you knit when you’re bored o. What’s your niche? It’s easier to remember someone when you associate them with something specific. It’s about owning your craft.
You want to be that person people point at and say, “Oh that’s him/her!”, then you need to be the “go-to” person for something(editing, fashion, baking, writing etc).
When people think of that one need, your name should pop up. Share the lessons, experiences, and wins that make you who you are.
5. Show Up With Good Energy

You can’t even boast of one real friend, because you walk around like you are carrying everybody’s problem on your shoulders, relaxxxx. People may forget your exact words, but they’ll always remember how they felt around you.
Energy is also an important part of packaging. You can look good, talk smart, and still scare people off if your energy screams “I hate the human race”.
Say hi like you mean it, even to the gatekeeper, and set the tone you want others to mirror.
Packaging yourself isn’t about pretending to be someone you’re not. It is owning your presence, and being deliberate about how you show up in the world. Your personal packaging can open doors that talent alone might not.
You need to be able to leave an impact, wherever you find yourself. There should not be a sigh of relief when you leave a place. Instead, your absence should be heavily felt and missed after you have just left the room.
