It’s been a little over a month since I landed a role at Fusion as a Product Design intern and I won’t lie, it’s been a wild ride. Think late-night Google rabbit holes, random bursts of creative genius, and moments where I genuinely considered framing my Figma file like a work of art.
This past week? No exception. I did everything from deep research dives to redesigns that made me rethink the definition of “micro detail.”
Here’s how it all went down:
Monday
The week started with a major research mission: airtime, data, and investment flows. Sounds straightforward, right? Wrong. It felt like I was decoding the lost scrolls of fintech: UI patterns, competitor features, user expectations, etc. All to answer one question: how do we design something better?
I analyzed competitors, compared user flows, and looked at what makes people actually stick around in an app. One minute I was casually scrolling through familiar apps, the next I was like, Wait, THAT’S why this works so well?

Tuesday

Task of the day: adapt our Terms of Service desktop layout I had previously designed to mobile.
Simple abi? I thought so too until my mentor hit me with a masterclass in spacing, font size, color contrast, and character count. Who knew that making a few paragraphs fit nicely on a small screen could require so much thinking?
Lesson learned: Design isn’t just about making it pretty. It’s about making it work everywhere.
Wednesday

My midweek energy was all about leveling up. I enrolled in a UI Audit course to fine-tune my eye for design details, then dove straight into reviewing our soon-to-be-launched Cards.fusion landing page (stay tuned, it’s fire).
Spacing? Checked.
Typography? Tweaked.
Responsiveness? You already know.
Turns out, spotting what doesn’t work is just as important as creating what does.
Thursday
The project that made my whole week: mapping out a competitor’s user flow, from onboarding to investment.
It was like getting a backstage pass to how other products work. I got to see where users breeze through and where they struggle. That clarity was gold. It gave me fresh ideas for simplifying our own product and making it feel effortless from the first tap.

Friday
If this week taught me anything, it’s that learning never stops. From quick feedback notes to full-on design revisions, every moment was a chance to grow. And combining self-paced learning with real-world tasks was a game changer.
“Design isn’t just about pixels. It’s about people. It’s about problem-solving. And it’s about staying curious, even when it feels hard.”
My Little Gift for You
You made it this far? You deserve a badge of honor or at least a virtual high five. And I just might skip this Product Design intern thing and consider a career in writing. hehehe
Here’s what I’d leave you with:
- Keep learning. Even the tiniest improvements matter.
- Break big problems into smaller chunks. It makes the “impossible” feel possible.
- Stay curious. Stay hungry. Stay humble.
And most importantly, you don’t have to do it alone.
Join the Tech Connect community on Fusion, where creatives, designers, writers, and builders like you share stories, wins, and tips. Whether you’re just starting out or already deep in the trenches, there’s space for you.
Let’s grow, design, and figure it all out together.
